The biggest advantage of biodegradable packaging materials is that they are easy to degrade and will not pollute the ecological environment. This material not only maintains the function and characteristics of traditional materials, but also can be bidegraded and reduced in nature without human intervention after use, so as to reintegrate into the natural ecological environment in the form of molecular structure. The formation of this material is to add quantitative additives in the production process, according to the needs of the packaging subject can add starch, vitamins, biological degradants, so as to reduce the stability of the material.
Currently, water-soluble plastic films, starch-based bidegradable materials and polylactic acid degradable plastics are under development. For example, polylactic acid (PLA) is a good biodegradable material, which is mainly composed of beet, corn, potato and sugarcane and other organisms. It is fermented to produce lactic acid, thus forming POLylactic acid. Poly (lactic acid) has good compatibility, good biodegradability, air permeability and oxygen permeability. Its main application scope is packaging box, disposable fast-food box and so on.
The packaging material can be treated in a variety of ways after use, whether it is degradation or combustion treatment, will not cause pollution to the environment, the degradation products are also green environmental protection.
At present, the application range of POLylactic acid is relatively small, mainly because of its weak impact resistance and strong brittleness, which can not directly meet the practical needs of application. Therefore, further research and development of this material should be carried out to improve its application performance through physical or chemical intervention. For example, flexible polymers and additives can be added to improve the performance of PLA and further promote the development of PLA composite materials.
