Meat Packaging
Vacuum bags can be developed for portioned meat, processed meat and other suitable refrigerated or frozen applications.
Seafood Packaging
Fish and seafood can introduce additional challenges including moisture, oil, irregular shapes and sharp edges.
Cheese Packaging
Vacuum packaging is widely used for many cheese formats, but the required barrier and seal properties vary by cheese type and intended shelf life.
Prepared and Processed Foods
Vacuum packaging may also be considered for selected prepared foods and foodservice applications.
Dry Foods and Ingredients
For products where vacuum packing is used to reduce air inside the package, compostable structures can also be evaluated for selected dry foods, ingredients and specialty products.

Are compostable vacuum seal bags suitable for food?
They can be suitable for food packaging when the selected material is intended for food contact and the finished package meets the requirements of the specific application and target market. Food-contact documentation should be confirmed for the exact material structure being purchased.
Are your vacuum seal bags certified compostable?
Certified compostable structures are available. The applicable certification and scope should be confirmed for the exact finished bag specification before an environmental claim is placed on the artwork.
What is the difference between industrial and home compostable vacuum bags?
Industrial compostability refers to controlled composting conditions in commercial or municipal facilities. Home compostability is a separate claim and requires different evaluation conditions. Buyers should specify which end-of-life claim they require.
Do compostable vacuum bags have the same barrier as PA/PE vacuum bags?
Not necessarily. Barrier performance depends on the specific film structure. BioPack recommends comparing the required OTR, WVTR, seal and mechanical performance with your existing packaging rather than assuming identical properties.
Can the bags be used for frozen food?
This depends on the selected film structure and the required storage temperature. If frozen use is required, provide the target temperature and product details so the packaging can be evaluated and tested accordingly.
Can they be used for sous vide?
Sous vide suitability should not be assumed from compostability alone. The material must be evaluated for the intended cooking temperature, time, food-contact conditions and sealing process. Tell us your actual sous vide conditions if this is part of the application.
Can you make custom vacuum bag sizes?
Yes. Dimensions can be customized according to your food product, portion size and vacuum packaging equipment.
Can the bags be custom printed?
Yes. Custom printing can be developed for branded food packaging and private-label projects. Printing method depends on the material, artwork, bag size and order volume.
What information do you need to recommend the material?
The most useful information is the food type, bag dimensions, product weight, storage temperature, target shelf life, current material structure, vacuum machine, destination market and expected quantity.
Can you match an existing vacuum bag?
Yes. Send the current specification or a physical sample. The existing bag can be used as a reference for dimensions, thickness, sealing format and required performance.
