Custom width, length and bag shape
Custom printing with clear product viewing area
Custom logo
PLA-based and other film options; specification confirmed for each application
Product Description
Give fresh lettuce a pack that fits comfortably, shows the leaves clearly and works with your packing process. BioPack offers custom lettuce packaging bags for whole heads and leafy greens, with printed branding and material options selected around the application.
Start with the lettuce you sell. A compact iceberg head, a broad butterhead and a long romaine bunch do not need the same bag. We can discuss dimensions, bag shape, a clear viewing area and ventilation requirements before preparing a project-specific quotation.
Bag dimensions and shape: accommodate the product profile without forcing delicate leaves into a tight opening.
Clear or printed presentation: show the produce while making your brand easy to recognise.
Ventilation: assess perforation requirements against the lettuce, film and distribution conditions.
Material choice: review PLA-based and other proposed films, including biodegradable options where suitable.
Packing compatibility: confirm filling and closure requirements through samples on your own packing line.
Specification | Options / project details |

Size | Custom width, length and gusset dimensions where needed |
Appearance | Clear film or custom printing with a viewing area |
Ventilation / anti-fog | Discuss available options and compatibility with the selected film |
Closure | Matched to the chosen bag and packing method; sealing conditions established by trial |

Samples | Discuss samples for filling, handling and storage evaluation |
Choose dimensions using the maximum expected head diameter and height, not average weight alone. Seasonal size changes can turn an easy-to-fill bag into a tight fit. Leave enough room to insert the head gently and keep leaves away from the closure area.
Long leaves need enough bag length and a suitable opening. Check how the filled bag sits inside its delivery carton: a pack that looks good individually may still let leaf tips fold or become compressed during stacking.
Cutting, washing, drying and portioning affect conditions inside a pack. Do not transfer a whole-head bag specification directly to a ready-to-eat salad. Share the fill weight, processing method, packing temperature and distribution requirements so the film can be assessed for that use.
Lettuce continues to respire after harvest. The film and any perforations need to accommodate gas exchange while helping limit moisture loss. Perforation size, number and position should be evaluated with the actual produce and packing conditions. More holes are not automatically better, because extra ventilation can also increase moisture loss.
A bag can look clear at filling and develop condensation later. If fogging is a problem, identify when it occurs during storage, transport or retail display. Where compatible with the selected material, an anti-fog option may improve visibility. It does not remove excess moisture or replace temperature control.
Keep a useful clear window so buyers can see leaf colour and condition. Position branding, barcodes and disposal instructions where folds and gathered film will not hide them. A filled sample is a better guide than a flat artwork proof.
BioPack offers PLA-based lettuce bag options for projects evaluating alternatives to conventional produce films. A biodegradable material still needs to meet the practical requirements of filling, handling, sealing and refrigerated distribution.
For biodegradable lettuce packaging, confirm the complete structure and intended disposal conditions before approving a claim. Printing, coatings and closures are part of the finished pack. PLA-based does not automatically mean home compostable, and a material claim should not be treated as certification of the complete bag.
If your brief calls for eco friendly lettuce packaging, define what the change should achieve: a better fit with less unnecessary film, a specified material change, or a supported end-of-life route. Match on-pack wording to the evidence available and the disposal options in your sales market.
Trial check | What to look for |
|---|---|
Filling and fit | Easy loading without crushing leaves; enough space for the largest expected head or bunch |
Closing | A clean closure area without trapped leaves or excess moisture |
Handling | Bag integrity and product protection through carton loading and distribution |
Display | Clear product visibility and readable print after filling |
Storage | Changes in wilting, condensation, discolouration and odour under intended conditions |
Agree the acceptance criteria before testing. Use the same produce preparation, fill quantity and temperature conditions planned for production. Establish shelf life with the actual food and pack rather than relying on a generic number of days.
The best packaging for lettuce depends on its format and distribution route. Whole heads, loose-leaf bunches and fresh-cut mixes need different assessments. Match the dimensions, film and ventilation to the product before choosing a final specification.
Some applications use perforations; others rely on a film with suitable gas transmission properties. The choice depends on the lettuce, fill quantity, film and temperature conditions. Confirm performance with filled samples.
Biodegradability does not establish freshness performance. Compare the proposed film with your current pack using the same produce and storage conditions before making a shelf-life claim.
Yes. Custom printing can include your logo and product information while retaining a clear viewing area. Share artwork and check the print position on a filled sample.
Not without assessment. Fresh-cut salad has different processing and packaging requirements. Provide the processing details and intended use before selecting a film or ventilation design.
Material, dimensions, thickness, printing, bag construction and order quantity all affect cost. Compare quotations against the same specification and confirm which testing or supporting documents are included.
Send BioPack your lettuce variety, whole or fresh-cut format, fill weight, maximum product dimensions, packing method, order quantity and destination market. Include your current bag specification and the problem you want to solve, such as difficult filling, fogging or excessive film.
